Verse 1
Is this the last day ever
Or just the first day that I see
Three hundred and sixty five days later
I can’t believe the irony
Chorus 1
Oh when you retreat
Don’t shoot me with your arrow
I will feign despair
Hold me in your heart
Lie I taught myself to say
Innocent and rare
Verse 2
I don’t know what to feel
Or what to do
Anymore
An amalgamated mind would be a start
You waltzed right through that doorway
I was sitting with the glass
Tightly clasped
Multiple shards all joined with glue
The little hammers play a folk tune
They hit the strings all, one by one
It’s written on a piece of paper
I saw you holding when I fell
Into your room
Chorus 2
Oh when you depart
I’ll climb into the broken
Pages in my draw
Sink until I fall
Joy I feel cos you’re alive
Doesn’t count at all
Verse 3
You say, yes, this is the last day ever
And it’s the first day that I see
One hundred and twenty five days later
Her loathing changed into a love, made out to me
Thanks to God for aiding my correction of perception
Of your articulated overly eloquent expression
Interlude
I just wanted, wanted to find you
Before, the whim began to fade
I just wanted, wanted to find you
But you, you walk the other way
Chorus 3
Oh when you set forth
Felt the coin drop in the well
Didn’t hear the sound
Riddles posed to thee
What made you so dear to me?
You’re still in my head
Chorus 1
Oh when you retreat
Don’t shoot me with your arrow
I will feign despair
Hold me in your heart
Lie I taught myself to say
Innocent and rare

For You
05:10
|
|||
Verse 1
Oh wait wait wait wait wait
I never said I didn’t want you
Oh stay stay stay stay stay
How many times I’ve said to you
Don’t say say say say say
We never had it anyway
It’s just I hate hate hate hate hate
The way I always hide from, hide it all, from you
Chorus
You didn’t have to break your back
You didn’t have to save yourself if you knew
You’re skeptical without a cause
And your courage fails to constitute the truth
And I know it’s been a while
But your eyes hold me still
You’ll never know I miss you,
Cos even if I’d kissed you,
You’d still let them shoot you
Verse 2
Oh wait wait wait wait wait
These bones of mine won’t dissipate
Oh stay stay stay stay stay
The night will fade, I wish you’d wait
Don’t hate hate hate hate hate me
Because I sometimes riddle you
Always wait wait wait wait waiting
I didn’t want to run too soon, to you
Chorus
You don’t have to break yourself
You don’t have to run into the flame
You don’t have to bring them down
You don’t have to wear that crown and bear the shame
And I know it’s been a while
But your eyes hold me still
And oh god knows I’ve missed you,
Even if I kissed you,
You’d still let them shoot, you
There’s a light at the centre of everything in everything I do

Wildflower

Verse 1
You sailed me away to the island
In the centre of the lake
Where we would stay, playing music
To the god who sits and waits
Patiently for the trees
To uncover what they hide
Turn your treasure map the right way up
You said ‘let’s see what we can find’
Torches shining through the silhouetted leaves
And breaking blackened night
As the soles of our shoes
Wear thin we didn’t read the signs
Southern cross up above
Shining brightly, guiding us
Hold your breath and take the step
Towards the end of where we are
Chorus
Would you hold me?
Just one last time
Before the night circles in
Before the darkness wraps you up
I had you
But I couldn’t give myself
And so I’m giving you
Away to someone else
Verse 2
In the clearing there we see
A million fireflies like neon lights
Do you remember how we used to
Watch them pass us by
Suddenly all I see
Is an ancient hollow tree
And buried deep within its core
A little wooden box and nothing more
You gather soil
I’ll dig this seed into the ground
We’ll turn around
It’s just polite to close our eyes
While its roots are found
Old and weary moon
Kiss the young and innocent assembly soon
Hold the flower in your palms
Wild purple petals kept us coming
Would you hold me
Just one last time
Before the night circles in
Before the darkness wraps you up
I had you
But I couldn’t give myself
And so I’m giving you
Away to someone else
Don’t try to hand me what I’ve given you
Because it’s yours to keep
There’s still an island, still a flower
Still a box without a key
I’ll close the lid
Seal it up
And I’ll float it off to sea
And maybe someday they will find it
Lying still in oceans deep

This Fleeting Love
08:08
|
|||
I.
Verse 1
Under your skin
There is a cage
Made of bones
Or is it a fortress
Or it is a home
And all that you have
You try to feel from within
That’s not an organ
When you feel your heart sing
Chorus
This fleeting love
It’s fleeting like
My hope is tried
Oh wash me out
Your dead beat mind
Your weary eyes
And i’m trying
I am trying
You wash me out
This fleeting love
It’s fleeting like
My hope if tired
Verse 2
In fourty nights
The great city will fall
You said nothing compares
To a high barbed-wire wall
Unless you realize
Like Jonah did find
That the whale isn’t prison
If you open your eyes
That there’s shade from the east wind
If you water the vine
Chorus
This fleeting love
It’s fleeting like
My hope is tired
Oh wash me out
Your dead beat mind
Your weary eyes
I am trying
I am trying
You wash me out
My hope is gone
This fleeting love
This fleeting love
It’s fleeting like
II.
Everyone wakes up
To the sound of the heart
Beats alive, alive
And if truth, love, life
Are just words you recite
You are blind, they’re alive
And it calls
If you fall
Light the night
III.
You wear your, you wear your
Skin down to your toes
We sometimes, we sometimes
Fight what we don’t know
But in your dead beat eyes
I can see that you
You sometimes, you sometimes
See the holy ghost
Sitting on the shore
I’d be waiting
I’d be waiting for
The great city to fall
Then the great teacher
He comes preaching to me
‘brother, where you been?
You’re hiding in your skin
Oh won’t you fight
For this city of mine’
Your heart sinks low
Your hope was gone
IV.
Oh wash me out
Your dead beat mind
Your weary eyes
They wash me out
My hope is lost
My hope is gone
This fleeting love
Its fleeting like
My hope is tired
Your weary eyes
Your dead beat mind
They wash me out
Oh wash me out
This heart of mind
Your weary mind

The Animals Built Babel
03:27
|
|||
How do you awake from gnashing dreams
Thunderous loud he calls you in your sleep
Upon the small, crafted figures
Clothed in thick soft skins
Of brown and white and pink
And calling he thus does
From his chamber in the morning
Till the darkness falls
They know not what they seek
How do we teach the animals
Who built a tower high
Teeming like gnats they climbed
Until the swore it rose to sky
And into blueness they did find
The mystery of thee
O darkness, o the darkest night
Calls softly ‘to thy knee’
They rest their heads with bated breath
And frost upon their lips
‘Tis kiss of death and youths first pierce
Which rankled in my chest
‘For war within’ I hear him cry
‘A swordsman to the heart
Strike hammer to the iron hot blade
To stab and tear apart’
‘This death you bring’ so curiously
They ask without a start
‘Does it hurt the mind, the nerve,
The arteries, the heart?’
‘Brings pleasure’, says the darkest knight
‘Oh solemn song for thee,
I do not bring you peace or wholeness
Merely gravity’
But these small words are uttered
As the figures stare at dust
Their minds are all a-cluttered
With red diamonds, silk and musk
For gravity pulls downward
Only in towards the ground
And the animals who built their Babels
And their cities soon were found
Swarming in the undergrowth
Of damp and rotten roots
Gnawing at its aching branches
Sawing at the tooth
The swordsman and the darkest knight
Ride out in victory
For with small words and darkness
They had conquered liberty
Building prisons out of freedom
Singing songs to death
The animals see hollow bows
And praise them for their strength
O darkness, o the darkest night
Calls softly ‘to thy knee’
They rest their heads with bated breath
And frost upon their lips
‘Tis kiss of death and youths first pierce
Which rankled in my chest
‘For war within’ I hear him cry
‘A swordsman to the heart
Strike hammer to the iron hot blade
To stab and tear apart’
‘This death you bring’ so curiously
They ask without a start
‘Does it hurt the mind, the nerve,
The arteries, the heart?’
‘This death you bring’ so curiously
They ask without a start
‘Does it hurt the mind, the nerve,
The arteries, the heart?’

I do the things
I do not want to do
And I feel the things
I know
I’m not supposed to feel
If I hate what I do
If I turn and run to you
Will you fight for me
There’s a battle
In a parallel universe
For your soul
You can’t say it isn’t real
Because these particles
We don’t know
Love, for the day is near
No longer slaves
To a freedom that we fear
O the depth
O the riches
Of our freedom
Who would’ve thought
That your freedom
Was your prison
If I see
The things the devil
Tries to hide from me
Jealousy, bitterness and envy
Eats your heart out
Till you’re asleep
Till you’re a hoax
Synthetic sham
A hollow shell, persistently
Rummaging for your soul
Amongst the dead, dark sea
I want to be held
Because you’re dying to show
How much your heart beats for me
I won’t believe this world
Is just the fallacy that we see
Love, must be sincere
Or you’ll be enslaved
By a freedom that you fear
O the depth
O the wonder of wisdom
Who would’ve thought
That your freedom was your prison
Love, the day is near
No longer slaves
To a freedom that we fear
O the depth
O the riches of our freedom
Who would’ve thought that your freedom was your prison
Who would’ve thought that your freedom was your prison
Who would’ve thought that your freedom was your prison
